Input Data:
Changes in GDP and population, information on the existing power plant stock (vintage structure, type of power plant), costs for new power plants (incl. fuel prices), air and water temperature
Results:
Based on information about the cooling system and power station-specific factors, specific water requirement quantities for each power station can be calculated. These indicate which minimum quantity of water is needed for the corresponding power station. Furthermore the costs for power plant operators in the event of fresh water shortages are presented.
Resolution:
• Water demand and costs are calculated on power plant specific level. So the analysis are not limited to a region.
• Temporal simulation step: 1 month
Operating system:
Windows
Programming language:
VBA/Excel
Model run time:
<1 s
