HEINO is managed in co-operation with Ralf Greve, Institute of Low Temperature Science, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. It is a topic of the Ice Sheet Modelling Intercomparison Project (ISMIP), which is coordinated by Philippe Huybrechts, Departement Geografie, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. The main goal of HEINO is to investigate large-scale instabilities of the Laurentide ice sheet in a simplified geometrical setup and to compare their representations in different contemporary ice sheet models.
