My research expertise is in the field of process-based modelling of forest systems with a focus on stand-based models (Lasch-Born et al. 2020). 4C is such a forest model and is being further developed by our working group here at PIK and applied to various questions concerning the dynamics of forest ecosystems. Special experience exists in the modelling of water uptake via roots and transpiration processes as well as in the modelling of biotic disturbance events. My main research interest is to study the combined effect of forest management and climate change on ecosystem services with focus on European forest ecosystems (Gutsch et al. 2018).
